After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

'Mt Everest' cappuccinos...

Take a look - is this the worst milk coffee shot you've ever seen?

  • Ok you got me It's funny when I look in my cupboard now and see some of the crappy stuff Ive spent money on over the years ...yes this is one of them. It was about 7 years ago and I was in an Italian deli getting my cold cuts (read mortadella) when I saw it and said "yes I must have this - the perfect travel stovetop one that does lattes too"  and not to be outdone i went one better and spent over $100 and got the glass top one! It's a Bialetti Mukka Express It does exactly what it says it does but the taste is well...Shite I will never let it go because it now makes for a good story The things you do hey Strangely a cleansing feeling's come over me - I should have come to one of these Mukka Express Anonymous meetings earlier in my life Seeya
  • I once spent hard earned uni student money on a Mr Espresso by black and decker then killed it by filling it with milk for my own trademark special latte.  The instructions clearly said milk in the device is forbidden but what do they know right!?!
  • I bet you someone at B&D decided at the last minute to include that warning in the manual Peter : hey Dave you happy with the final version before going to print? Dave: looks good mate Dave (5 mins later) : Peter I was thinking about this while outside having a smoke, put something in there about not putting milk in - there'll be some bloody idiot out there that's gonna try - trust me Ive Been here to long and nothing surprises me anymore
  • A representative from Jura HQ in Switzerland is in Australia at the moment and visited our humble establishment yesterday (we are an area distributor and service centre for them). We dined at one of the most upmarket restaurants in the area and the food was exceptional. One of our party ordered a flat white after dinner, and received an italian style cappuccino (1/3 - 1/3 - 1/3) instead.  The quality of the brew was never questioned, it was that a mountain of froth was received in an order where one (mt of froth) was clearly not requested. At one stage I excused myself to freshen up........and from the safety of the toilet received a reasonably clear rendition of a gordon ramseyesque spack attack happening in the kitchen with several people joining in.......(must have carried through the ceiling or some of the roof ducting as I was next door to the kitchen). So on the one hand we have "tormented / food with attitude" type chefs producing wonderful food for us to savour, and on the other we have someone behind a coffee machine that cant tell a flat white from a capp. All of this entertainment, for a very expensive price! EDIT: I just spoke to my man ( who ordered the coffee), and can add the brew also wasnt good. Not good, for a place where the bill was "up there".
  • How much did that coffee set you back? I can't find his post anywhere, but I think Anger Managements photo of his coffee at a cruise terminal tops this.  From memory the spoon could stand up in the foam!   It was classic.  He was gagging for a coffee after his coffeeless cruise, and didn't drink it!  :P

What... For the appalling photoshop job!!
  • I went to a coffee training session back in the day where the instructor proceeded to juggle the milk jug up and down to produce a coffee not unlike the one pictured !
