Received my order from Bean Green today in the usual record time and excellent packaging...but wait.... There's more!!! This awesome retailer read this very thread and threw in a large sample pack of the Brazil Daterra Opus 1 low caffeine variety: as suggested by Coffeehorse. I've roasted some this afternoon and couldn't wait to try them. The verdict: I have a new favorite decaf. Thank you so much Bean Green (Brendan) for your thoughtful generosity, brilliant range of quality greens and outstanding service time after time.

Thanks everyone for reply my question about the price. I am happy to hear the real dealer or who knows what the cost. Maybe I just need to appreciate more about all the dealer who offer the good and high quality green bean. Thanks again for everyone's sharing. Colin

This is my first post after being informed of this Forum by Vinitasse. Good work.

The first thing I like about this Forum is you can actually talk about your grean bean suppliers.

I'm only new to roasting and have collected about 18 different beans to roast and am enjoying the experience immensely. I have a looked around at some of the expensive beans and was rather shocked to see the price of the Jamaican Blue Mountain. Anyway, I found these folks and also found their price much much cheaper than others. Check it out. http://www.jamaicacoffee.com.au/ They only have the one green bean that you can purchase and it is $79.00 per kilo including free postage which is much better than other suppliers prices on the JBM. The kilo that I purchased even came with a certificate of authentication.

Post approved but it does read a little like a paid advitorial

No problems with discussing suppliers of all sorts be they beans or gear but overt spruiking on non sponsors is still frowned on. On JBM there is a lot of other beans for a whole lot less $ I would rather be drinking and roasting too.

If I had thought you were advertising for them I would have used the edit button on you. As AM pointed out we do get plenty of kopi luwak or promo posters from first posts and we haven't had a good chinese tamper supplier get through for quite a while. Don't stress about it as we don't use the shoot first policy here :coffee2:

Just like to follow up the topic about Jamaica Blue mountain. I read some article about no all the bean label as "Jamaica Blue mountain" really come from Jamaica Blue mountain. Some of them blend part with JBM, some just tasted close to JBM (prob central American origin). Few days ago, I just chat with one of my friend about the JBM is pretty expensive one. Its around 80 bucks per kilo compared to other good and famous one only 15-20 bucks per kilo. Two days ago, I received a gift from him as the celebration of I finish my exit-seminar of my study. Its a pre-roast one, but been told only 1-2 weeks old. I have tried four different set up for the shots. Two espresso, two with cappuccino. I have to say, they are not as great as I image. (or I did not have a expert's palate). Some cocoa/chocolate after mouth flavour like El Salvador and Tanzania in my experience. Balanced body and aromas... But...I wont pay 19 bucks for 100 gram. (four times more expensive than other average one). It is from www.jamaicablue.com.au I have read their website, it seems like they are 100% JBM single origin. I might go to the local shop to try their pro machine made. At least good news is their 2011 Barista champion (only internal of their franchise) is at our city (castletown, Townsville). I might have the chance to taste the champion made JBM coffee^^

A champion barista at Castletown? Give me strength!!! Last year when I went to Castletown there was really only Coffee Clud to choose from. Are you telling me that I didn't look hard enough??? Could the Brasserie be hiding a remarkable talent? Please do tell!

@Bret H Not too long. The castletown just extend the space this year, I will say 5 to 6 month now?! They have one more corridor, and a big "Big W" in the new space. BTW, can also anyone can help me to confirm the JBM from Jamaica Blue is a real JBM? Otherwise its quite pricy. Cheers Colin

Hmmmm, getting a little interesting. The coffee that I purchased from http://www.jamaicacoffee.com.au/ comes with a copy of a Foreign Importers Registration Certificate stating that they are being supplied with coffee from Mavis Bank & Blue Mountain Coffee Venture. Now if you Google that, I'm pretty sure that the JBM would be genuine. :thumb: It's a little interesting that I purchased the JBM in mid October, 2011 and the certificate is valid from 9th day of August, 2010 to the 31st day of July, 2011. Don't know what's going on there. :question: :question: I wonder if they still have a current permit. :question: Can't help with the other website and I can't see whereby you can purchase green beans off them anyway.

One explanation is that it's absolutely normal to see a considerable time lag between green beans being exported, shipped, stored in a roaster's warehouse and then finally roasted. As an example, they may well have exchanged a contract for purchase in the period noted on the certificate yet the greens may have arrived in one or many shipments thereafter. For traceability, the dates on the certificate are probably aligned with the coffee you received. A roaster could have green beans sitting in their warehouse for anywhere up to 18 months - however this it the upper end of a typical scale and I'd assume with JBM being quite expensive, it does not move in large volumes thus their stock may last *many* months.

Just have another order from "Bean Green" again. And one friend share the order with me (but I bought most of them). Then got a Christmas gift pack from Bean Green!! I just like to say thanks for this gift pack. I hope it wont make "Bean Green" into trouble. Thanks again!! :thumb:

Most of mine have been from CS, but I have started getting more from Ministry Grounds and Bean Green. Unfortunatley the stash is still rather large at 138 kilos (and 41 different kinds of beans), so it'll be some time before I buy some more greens. :angel: For me, the postal service is the biggest hurdle to timely arrival, becuase I'm outside of a capital city ::) Time to get back to roasting on the Hottop... :coffee2:

Are you serious :question: 138 kilograms in stock. You must be far more than just a home roaster.

yep - a compulsive hoader of things I like :-[ The stash just kind of grew on me while I was OS with work for a few months. Not much else to do on downtime apart from surfing the web, finding coffee and ordering it. Or thinking about an upgrade machine. Or dreaming of real coffee....

Fair enough mate! I can see how that could happen and what better well deserved treat than the deferred gratification of hobby nirvana! Still think you may need to dream of a bigger Hottop! I have been whittling my stash down from a modest 30kg to a mere 10kg so that I can order more often and take full advantage of the BeanGreen free delivery for $50+ orders. Accidentally told a mate that it was 50kg+ for free delivery and that we as home roasters had no problems filling that amount. I corrected myself with his look of disbelief but your mates Ash would probably believe you!

I used to buy from Coffeesnobs, but had a difference of opinion with the owner over the importance of temperature as a variable in espresso extraction. One statement in particular caused me to reevaluate my purchasing behaviour. I buy from bean green and mycuppa these days. Excellent product/service/price, can buy in 1kg lots and treated with respect.

Apologies Divey - we are not really in the business of green bean selling (it's a long story). We only put up a few basics to stem the high number of email requests we would typically receive. However, UNM lives very close and pops in at convenient times (after the madness of the daytime) and he gets access to anything we have on the deck in whatever quantities he needs.

:thumb: That ought to work. You may have to wait a month or two until my next visit. Also I haven't a clue what Jeff has on hand until I get there (I do love variety and surprises). I got an Indian surprise this time. Jeff, I know greens aren't your business and I do very much appreciate your consideration in providing for my roasting habit. You certainly won't get rich on my paltry purchases
