After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • Hi guys - am hoping Cosmorex is successful in tracking down the culprits...seems there has been a spate of coffee machine thefts recently. Any theories as to what's going on?  Is it because margins are so high that these guys are going to be able to sell off at markdown prices and still make a bundle? Or do we simply have some coffee-thirsty crooks? -A
  • It is my belief that the culprits are going to walk away with a bit of money as the margins on espresso machines is very good.good luck FC if i hear anything ill send you a message, and i hope that everyone in this web site does the same.OE
  • Further to previous mail it has been "interesting" to find there are more than a handful of coffee and coffee machine specialists that have been targeted and robbed in similar circumstances and within extremely close proximity (in terms of a country the size of Australia) in the last two years within NSW, and there could be more that I haven't yet uncovered. In addition is has been a real eye opener to find that it IS NOT common knowledge among traders in the same industry, that these robberies have occured. We speak to some of these people from time to time and have never been advised by them that this kind of thing has happened to them. Appparently they are not concerned if someone in receipt some of their stolen property eventually brings it to another trader for service or repair. If we do not have a list of stolen models and their serial numbers to refer to, how can the goods be recovered? Being robbed is nothing to be ashamed about, and on an industry basis keeping quiet about it is absolutely appalling because it prevents "fellow" traders from sharing information that not only could result in the recovery of their property and prosecution of criminals, but it PREVENTS the industry as a whole from warning that these robberies are occuring and for individual businesses thus warned, the opportunity to upgrade their security accordingly to combat the type of crime and secure their livelihood. In addition an industry remaining thus quiet allows criminals a better opportunity to dispose of the goods in a market place undisturbed by warnings not to touch suspiciously distributed equipment. OE, there are indeed extremely good margins in disposing of equipment which is the subject of ill gotten gain and cost nothing for the criminals to aquire except to destroy the livelihood of those from whom the equipment was stolen. I strongly urge anyone with information to come forward. CosmoreX Coffee, Canberra ACT.
  • You've probably already done it, but it might be worth checking out e-Bay... you never know!!!
  • I forgot to tell you all that my coffee machine supplier had a few espresso machines taken from his work shop,i went to see him and his work shop was quite empty ,the way the got the staff was very brave, they got in from the roof and loaded his van full to the brim with domestic machines then as the roller door was shut from the inside they some how took the machines up the roof witch is at least 20 to 25 feet high how keen are this people to take the machines that weigh 20kg.
  • Just keeping this topic fresh in your minds. There will be news on developments soon. FC.
  • Hi FC - any developments on the stolen machines? -A
  • Hi there Admin, how are you getting on with the young whipper snapper? About time you posted a photo isn't it! Thanks for asking about further developments. I did some investigative work and handed the local police a list of 14 separate incidents like mine, mostly within a 2 year period, within a relatively small area...that would be Albury to Newcastle... The police did a little more with my list and added another 3 to the list. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY GOOD STEADY BUSINESS TO A HIGHLY ORGANISED PROFESSIONAL GROUP OIF THIEVES WHO TARGET THIS INDUSTRY AS WELL AS OTHERS. Because of the number of simiilar robberies involved there is now a cross border police liason officer looking into it. If there are any people in the industry that want to talk about it, ring me, you will find my contact details on the company website www.cosmorexcoffee.com.au   If your premises are not properly secured, or your alarm is not up to the latest standard, or if it is not managed properly by your monitoring company, or if you are not adequately covered by insurance, or if you allow clients and potential clients access to more of your premises than just a secure retail area, you could be next. We have achieved some good publicity since the robbery. Hell of a way to get publicity.   FC.
