After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Derrilex and the Frankenkkto

edited January 1970 in Roasted Beans or Blends
For those who attended the social (either in person or virtually!) Derrilex brought his Frankenkkto - a modified version of KK's roaster with a secondary heat source.

We cranked it up and put through 600g of Finca Liquidambar from BeanGreen - which turned out to be a super easy roast and it's been resting since Saturday.

First taste today: not quite ready, the flavours haven't quite developed fully - bit it's a smooth strong flavour that extracted perfectly at 92 degrees (or whatever passes for that on my PID) with no sourness or bitterness.

If the roaster makes a difference then I'd say D is on to a winner.

  • I have over 20 or so designs This design has been on the back burner for quite some time and even preceded the first KKTO I had 90% of the parts on hand, the build was brought forward and off the drawing board to help out a fellow coffee roaster Better to use the components than having them lying arround KK
  • Cool news Kelsey. Be interesting to see how they finally work out even though they will continually evolve :thumb: I'm going to try a roast with no frypan at all and see what happens to the times...and the beans
