After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • Hi Kan, welcome along :) Any particular reason you want JBM? It like coffees from around the world varies in quality and taste profiles so all are not necessarily equal ;) I haven't seen any of the better coffee roasters in Melbourne offering JBM on a regular basis either but someone else here may have seen some.
  • Bean green has it, postage from them is awesome
  • I think small quantities of roasted coffee is what is needed so you had better let us know that too :)
  • i like JBM because i just cant forget its taste since i had it last time in hong kong i am not even new to here,,i am new to cofee as well,, just started to learn making coffe at home,, and wondering how come it is so hard to find JBM in melb,,, i mean not even beans,,cant even find a place that u can taste it
  • it's expensive and some believe more than just a little over-rated. my advice is to beware of imitations and stale packs.
  • thanks for advise!! it is just sounds funny to me,,,a country like australia consume tons and tons of coffee a day,, but cant really find a shop to sell jbm i think i will try impoting from hong kong

It's more to do with limited supply Only a fraction of the crop comes here KK
  • Its really sad to hear that~~~ do we have demand for this bean in Australia actually!?!?
  • I would say definitely not. Too many other wonderful, well priced beans to sample

Not really at the price. And at the price, not too many roasters are keen to roast it and put it on display "on spec" that clients will see and buy. As I stated elsewhere, my own company only roasts it after announcing to the clients that a batch will be roasted shortly IF there are enough orders, and orders are PAID FOR at time of booking. That way if when the coffee is roasted and the cleints are telephoned they "forget' to turn up and take their beans, its their problem not the roasters.....and yes, it happens. That would be if you want genuine certified JBM fresh roasted coffee and not one of the blue mountain "knock offs"  that are freely available all the time in some quarters and selling for the same price as regular beans. Hope that helps.
  • don't Jamaica blue cafes all  sell it? quality might be a bit iffy due to limited stock turnover at individual outlets Market Lane might be worth a try. even if they don't sell it, they may know someone reputable that does. Whereabouts in Melbourne are you?

Quality is iffy. I've tried it twice and the coffee was poorly prepared. Can't say if it tasted like the real thing. You can buy from Bean Green as mentioned above, and also from CoffeeSnobs. Andy from CS also sells roasted JBM but only as 4 x 500g lots. I think every one should try JBM at least once. Mavis Banks and Wallenford are the names that are most associated with top quality JBM estates.  How does JBM compare with some of the Brazilian CoE lots? I imagine there would be a similarity.
