After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • If you want your customers to come back, then give them what they ask for! But there are several ways you can do this without scolding the milk: You can pre-heat the cup first with boiling water Or you can add a 'dash' of boiling water to the coffee Or you can extract to coffee, make the milk as normal, add a splash of coffee to the milk, then steam this, before topping with the rest of the milk. The way I think of it is, its just another way to please the customer, to give them what they want. I mean, if someone came in and said they wanted their coffee 'not too hot' - or 'with a dash of cold milk' - you wouldn't think twice about it, would you? In some ways its just the same, but in reverse! Remember, it wasn't that long ago that we were all drinking instant, and this is still the beverage of choice for many customers, who, when they make their coffee at home, they have it as scolding hot as they want! In some ways I see it as my role to educate my customers, but I don;t do that by telling them what they can and can not drink. Cheers, Pat
  • The way we have found works is to put on the menu that we make the coffee a set temp but if they would like it hotter to please ask, that way they can't say it was your fault it wasn't hot enough. Also that helps to cover you legally if someone burns themselves on the hot coffee. it is then mainly there fault not yours. most importantly as Pat said, no matter how wrong they are, the customer should always get what they like so they will come back. • thanks for help. i always made sure customer knows that coffee was between 60 and 75 (hope thats right ) ::)and that i would make it hotter if they wanted it, but just  frustrated me, but will take your ideas on board . expect more questions from new guy  ;D
  • WOW 75!!!  My coffees are 55-60, I will go to about 65-70 if they ask. Heat your cups and handles. At first customers asked why it was cold, make them a coffee at 60 and at 70, let them taste it side by side. I only have 1 regular that still gets it super hot.
  • I heat my coffee at 60-65 and if they ask for it extra hot i heat it to 70. If you heat it past 80 you have burnt the milk and it will taste like crap.
