monkey poo coffee??

has anyone heard of that new coffee? apparently they feed the beans to a monkey then after the monkey has digested and disposed of the beans they brew it.
apparently the beans mature in the monkeys digestive system, and they charge crap loads for it too!
Has any one tried it?
any feedback?

Now I've heard of the coffee that comes from marsupial poo: Kopi Luwak Where the luwak (a marsupail that resembles a mongoose but which is slightly larger than the average household cat) swallows the whole coffee cherries then ejects the beans out the other end, and these are then collected and roasted, and they are VERY VERY EXPENSIVE! But I haven't tried it. Cant say I've heard of the monkey poo variety - but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist! I hope this works, I can kinda make coffee but not so good at computers. Recently a friend brought back some Luwak from Asia, I am very confident it wasn't the real deal, it was definitely stale and roasted in a wok. And I would be willing to bet it was largely substituted with robusta. Anyway here is a photo of the real deal I saw a a stand last year at The World Of Coffee Trade Show Switzerland. prob Viet robusta mate?  These marsupial/luwak rodents, Indo origin, should surely be fed SO for best results?  If I'm going to grind rat shit encrusted bean for a pour, it betta have an overwhelming experience ... Cheers, Sceptic GOD - stay pure, no poo.

Hi guys - newspaper stories usually pop up on this every 3-4 months as if it's the first time anyone's discovered it - yes, it does exist, but i've never met anyone who's actually ever tasted it! We ran a short piece in the latest issue of Crema about a guy up in Hervey Bay who runs special tastings with it at his cafe [Heritage Tea rooms]. Will give him a call to see what he has to say... Definitely from a [wild] cat - not monkey - it's called a civet! -A

lol well i guess i was wrong bout the whole monkey part then. thanks for all your info...... still i dont think i will be trying it any time soon!! oh and on the money side of things - who would pay that much for something thats come out of a marsupials butt??!!

I would love to try it, however, I would not trust a tea room "barista" to make it for me. I'd love to get hold of some greens to put through my roaster and machines.
