After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

30g basket???

edited January 1970 in Have your say
we've been offering 20oz cups for the last 4 months and suprisingly selling well (thought of them as a novelty)
we put 3 shots in them if they want mild or 4 shots if they want strong

for 3 shots we use a double group basket in one group handle and a single group......
thats 2 fills.... at 6am when the line is long and everyones needs to move fast, we've reached a point where its hard to keep up... a tradie will order 4 20oz caps and there are 5 people standing behind him.. pretty scary when your on your own

i was wondering weather there is a double+single group basket (equaling 30g if im not mistaken) avalible??
so a double shot and single shot can be poured in one hit??
i know the standed group handles couldnt fit a large basket like this so im assuming an appropriate GH would be needed.....

cheers
Ryan
ps we use an Espressimo 2 group 15 amp

  • G'day Ryan, a triple shot is about 21 grams, not 30 (which would be slighlty more than a quadruple dose). You can get a 'triple' basket from Coffeeparts, which according to their website it is rated at 18 grams, but will hold between 18 & 21 grams dosage dependant. These things also won't fit into some (shallow) portafilters, so you may have to use a naked pf. Give Pedro a ring at Coffeeparts and he'll be able to tell you if that basket will fit into your pf. If your looking for a 30 gram, which would be more than a quadruple, you'd have to do a bit of searching around. Good luck with it, Steve.
  • You may also be better off doing what I do for my 16oz takeawys when I'm busy - and that's pouring two double espressos, and cutting the pour short, so that you wind up with around 80 or 90mls of coffee, which is plenty even for a bigger cup - and its pretty quick too which as you say is important when you're busy Cheers, Pat
