environmental question: coffee!

HI guys - recent article in the Economist analysed the amount of water to make one litre of a given beverage; sadly coffee was the worst, with about 1,100 litres of water to make one litre. In comparison, orange juice used around 850 litres, while beer was only 300!

This type of "analysis" always makes lots of assumptions and can be very misleading, however if you want to go down that path stop eating meat because that takes it takes up to 100,000 L of water to grow 1 kg of beef (as opposed to 1,500 L for 1 kg of rice and which is the whipping boy when it comes to environmentalists). I think they should be trying to work out when this global recession is coming to an end rather than adding up water use figures. And just a point is that a litre of espresso? If so then that would last me a bit longer than a litre of OJ.  ;D

ahh yes grasshopper but what about drinking espresso... think about all that milk and steam that you 'save' when drinking it short...
