After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Hi guys - from the newswires: researchers from Sydney's George Institute for International Health found each extra cup of coffee per day was linked to a 7 per cent reduction in the risk of developing diabetes.
However, the authors say they cannot tell what ingredient in coffee is causing the effect - it's probably not caffeine itself, as decaffeinated tea & coffee had a similar [although lesser] effect.
The other interesting thing is that the amount had an effect also - people drinking three to four cups of coffee a day had a 25 per cent reduced risk of the metabolic disorder, while drinking more than six cups a day was linked to a 40 per cent risk reduction! The findings are based on a review of 18 previous studies, together involving 450,000 people.
