After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Bought some green beans from The Greenguys the other day

I believe they run the business as a hobby, prices are competitive, communication good, shipping a bit slow, I think they take orders one week and ship the next.
Roasted 625 grams of their Tiger Mountain today, will let it degas for a few days then report back. ;)

    Indian tiger mountain? It's great  their are buying groups growing in australia. Gives chance for home roaster to taste more coffees, without having to buy whole sack. Then have storage concerns with 60 kg sack Where were you in crack when finished? What temp were the beans? How long roast? Looking forward to how it tastes

    Morning Cherry, Sorry did not get back to you yesterday, was away for the day. Roasted to the first few snaps of second crack. Start temp 15 degree's, first crack13 mins @ 200C, SC @ 19 mins 230C. Tried them this morning as a long black and must admit I have had much better Tiger Mountain in the past, the pour lacked body and the crema was quite thin and dissipated very quickly compared to previous roasts of TM from another supplier. The coffee was drinkable but nothing to get excited about. Will try another batch soon, but if this one is any indication I'm glad I only got 2.5 kilo's of it.  :(

    Just ordered some green from ministry of grounds for the first time, I have been buying my green from CS for a while but liked the range and prices of the ministry so I thought I would give them a go. So far so good ordered yesterday shipped today. Cheers Brett

    I buy most of my greens from CS as well Brett, must admit the quality is always good, and their service is excellent. Placed one order from ministry, it was ok though as I recall payment was a bit of a stuff around.

    No issues with payment for me, the issue I find with CS is that you cant buy green and roasted of the same bean, also the really good stuff goes in a flash with their monthly offerings, if you are putting the kids to bed its gone. Cant fault their service though it is top notch. Brett

    I only buy green Brett so no problem for me there. Know what you mean re the good stuff going fast, missed out a couple of times early on, now I set up multiple reminders on my Outlook calendar starting the day before and two or three times on the day of the offer, so every time I check my email up pops a reminder, works well for me, don't miss any now, unless of course I'm away from home, mind you don't have distractions (kids) so perhaps I have a small advantage there.

    Hmmm, pulled my double, 18 grams of beans, 40 seconds,  only finished up with about 40 ml in the cup, still not up to scratch so adjusted the Mazzer 1 notch coarser and pulled another shot, vast improvement, approx 60 ml in 30 seconds, excellent crema, coffee perhaps just a little thin but this could also improve over the next couple of days. Much happier with the result now. ;D
