After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

favourite coffees

ok I had an El Salvador Finca Suize micro lot (its actually the lot NEXT to the lot that won cup of excellence!) yesterday - roasted for filter and the flavours were astounding: lychee and gooseberries come to mind on a dried fruit and nut infused palate

not the sort of things that you would expect to find in a coffee but delicious nevertheless

and when a well known wine maker describes the same coffee as 'very approachable' - you know you're onto a winner!

what have others been enjoying lately?

thanks to the good folk at market lane for my sensational coffee

  • Favourite coffee - most of them  ;D Most of the Geisha varietal when they are roasted correctly and fresh as a Syphon. Best one of the year was a Candelilla from Market Lane, also a great roast from Mecca of the Esmeralda. This years crop of Esme in Oz was not as good as a the one a couple of years ago IMO. Favourite for the year would still have to be the Nekisse from Mecca. The great thing with coffee is there is bound to be a new favourite right round the corner :)
  • One of the stand-outs for me this year is Nicaragua - Cima del Cielo (CoE) Followed by Peru - Ceja de Salva Estate KK
  • A couple of standouts for me this year have been the Ethiopian Nekisse and Ethiopian Amaro Gayo, both amazing coffees, especially as syphon or pourover.
