A few days ago after 13 years of having an espresso machine in the house SWMBO asked if I could show her how to use the Galatea  :o so after a short discussion she is standing at my side pen and note book in hand, I run through the process step by step then it's her turn, slow and steady but no major drama, biggest problem getting a level tamp, couple of minutes explaining and we have that problem sorted.
A few minutes later she has made herself a very respectable long black and has continued to do so each morning and a couple of times a day since, even varying the dose as what I make for her is (sometimes a little strong) her words.
I guess the next step will be steaming milk.
The point I am making here is if there is a desire to learn the battle is 3/4 over.

That's it in a nutshell as I mentioned in another thread, willingness to listen and learn makes a HUGE difference. Even a very blonde former Nescafe drinking employee of mine has shown an interest in having a go and I have had her making a few for me and the staff during the quiet times. But in your case I reckon you just wanted to sit back and be able to submit your order as payment for training services  ;D
