Opposition Mag I know but for anyone coming to Melbourne that might like to meet up for a coffee in and around the CBD on the Thursday or Friday let me know.

Only fairly firm ideas at this stage are the Public cupping at 7 seeds on Thursday 10am and maybe Market Lane on the Friday at 10.

really? Cafebiz was seriously underwhelming the last time I went in Sydney. I reckon you could put on a better trade show yourself AM.

Going to be interesting to see how it stacks up against the last big event I went to a few years ago. Outdoor on the Yarra with free entry and huge crowds that was pitched to the public compared to an indoor venue with a door price pitched more squarely at the industry. Still a great excuse to kick back and drink some coffees  ;D

Here is the rough plan for anyone wanting to skive off work for a bit or just feels like tagging along. Staying in Footscray and Bike riding unless the weather turns. Thursday 8.30-9'ish Elevenses for Breakfast 10 cupping at Seven Seeds 3 Bags Full for coffee and a snack 1'ish Foxy Brown for lunch Side trip to Human Powered Cycles and cafe. Proud Mary 65 Degrees Sensory Lab providing I haven't had a heart attack from all the caffeine. Friday Deadman Espresso for a traveler 10am Market Lane Cupping Axil Coffee Liar Liar Studio Movida Richmond Rush cafe Espresso 3121 Dancing Goat Auction Rooms for beer not coffee Saturday breakfast Duchess of Spotswood. Sunday breakfast The Premises Kensington. Any others I should consider as I have been to most of the inner city ones before?

Day one was a good one 55km of bike riding and only 2 near misses with !@#$ing car doors. Met up with Lou one of the members here for a stunning line up at Seven Seeds cupping session this morning. This was their best of the best samples they are considering bidding on in next weeks Best of Panama Auction. 4 Geishas, natural, honey and fully washed for a total of 10 samples, just a little intimidating. Shot of the day was a Ristretto at Foxy Brown just awesome Pat   Latte of the day goes to 65 Degrees with their Gridlock blend and watching Con at work on the roaster was just a bonus. Also had a nice Latte at a place called Little Mule about 50m (side lane) from Brother Baba apart from the fact that it is a bike shop selling fixies well worth a go for a change from BBB. Feet up showered and the first beer going down to ease the muscles in prep for tomorrow.

Worked hard again today about 60km in search of a brew or 7. Caught up with Bottomline twice at Market Lane for the cupping and again at Axil as I was leaving. Axil is well worth the trip and on day 2 was about 1/2 full at 2pm. Found out why Toshi wasn't working at Market Lane today he was at Axil having coffee with some others. The Old Probat with open belts and blower is awesome  Hardest won coffee for the day goes to Studio Movida at the highest point in Melbourne, great coffee and the roll down the hill was nice. Liar Liar has changed hands again, didn't stop for a coffee but will try it next time. If your on Punt Rd down the MCG end you could do a whole lot worse than look up the Richmond Rush Cafe/Bike shop. The Barista was turning out some really nice results with Coffee Supremes South Blend. Easy days coming up short rides for Breakfast and Cafebiz  ;D

Bottom Line

It was good to meet you Bean Flying. Hope you are enjoying a beer after all that riding! Should have realised that Axil Coffee was Axil Roasters and would have meet you back there after I went to pick some beans at HAB. Only found out after dropping into Elevenses and Tom said that Shanny was working there now that Axil was opened now. Axil coffee was full when I got there! Big place, sparse, which made it feel clean and large, but a little dark. Nice shiny stainless steel La Marzocos on the bench. Cheers

Last stop tomorrow morning will be at The Premises in Kensington on the corner of Bellair St. 8.30am'ish if any of you are in the area on the way to Cafebiz (about 2 or 3km away). Had a really nice coffee there this morning as a traveller on the bike and the food looked great.
