Electronic monitoring of the roast

The tc4c option will give you a more elegant, compact and configurable solution than meters if you  put some effort into packaging it into a suitable enclosure. I have a meter and don't use it for  roasting. The arduino and tc4 work well for me and will hopefully one day control the roaster heat and fan.

Just recieved my thermometer data logger ( a 4 channel YCT yc-747ud) I am thinking that I want to log three points.  Bean, Environment and Air. Has anybody been playing with Typica as I think this will log all 3? Any advice or other suggestions appreciated. Chester

I know this isnt a much read thread however, should you be looking at monitoring your roasts please dont make the mistake I did and purchase any data logger thermometer regardless of the quality as you may find yourself with an expensive piece of equipment that wont work with any of the roasting softwares. Leading to many hours of  :tearhair: :doh: :head: :'(. My advice, look at the software programs first, read some of the forum information about each, read the software designers list of compatible units/data loggers. Only then are you informed enough to purchase and download your monitoring software. From all the reading that I have done I think that if you are wanting to try a few different programs then the best hardware choice is probably the TC4C piggybacked with the LCD display as you can upload different firmware to it for a few of the programs (have to remove the old before updating with a new) a small amount of computer savy is needed to set this up. Also will need mounting somehow (acc. box or direct) I myself have decided to buy another data logger (CENTER-309 on the list this time) and run Artisan as the software, going this way as it will be easy to set up and allow for my none computer savy mind. Hope this saves someone a headache. Chester
