Looking for employment in Cafe

System

I am 20 year old female, looking for employment in a Cafe in Sydney, I have no previous experience but I am willing to learn. Whats the best way to get a job?

You could do what I did when I started out, though it's not strictly kosher - I went door knocking and volunteered to work unpaid in exchange for experience - like work experience if you will. Although, I should note, this behaviour is now deemed unethical, and illegal (to effectively employ someone without actually paying them) - but as a result, and based upon a bit of self-determination, I have since worked at some of the countries finest restaurants (many of which have since unfortunately faded from the limelight, a bit like me, really!) - with Mietta's, Marchetti's Latin, and the Lakehouse being among them! i did what ATCG did just 2 years ago.. it was at a student union cafe and after giving me a couple of shifts of training they offered me a job. the training was less then great but i got a job so i guess it worked out

Some of our best employees have been people that walked in off the street asking for a job! We used to be suspicious of people doing this....now we listen very seriously. Regardz, FC.

Barista networking. That is the key. At the moment I am looking for work as a Barista. I have just sold my cafe and have been sending off for jobs but no luck. I can't understand the way it works. I felt I was quite good at making coffee and take lots of pride in what I do but no one seems interested. What is worse, you go to a cafe and wonder  about some of the people working in the industry. Some couldn't make a coffee to save their own life. Another cafe, the so called barista extracted the coffee - greeted someone who came in then decided to have a look at some photos, all on the employees time - got back to the coffee they were making. So I am off to somewhere better in search of employment. Prpbably Brisbane because the weather is better up their.
