After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Dialling In/Seasoning Burrs
So I got my Super Jolly today and I've spent the last 45 minutes trying to dial it in. I started out on the stock grind setting then went finer and then coarser and coarser again. I thought that setting was good. (I was pulling doubles all the while). From there I adjusted tamp pressure to try and get my 60mls in 30 seconds. BUT, it seems there is another force working against me as me tamping lighter results in a slower pour making rethink and do it again and again and again to no avail. Is this a seasoning issue that will settle after a short period letting me fine tune - please tell me it is. I noticed a bit of clumping on the first few doses but that seems to have almost solved itself.
So far I've pulled 30 doubles at 20-21g each go. With 7 second pre-infusion on the BDB, they have ranged from 60ml in 17sec to 25 ml in 40 seconds with 1 complete choke. I've tasted 4 of the shots, 2 were terrible, 1 so-so and the last of the 15 pours I took with me to the couch, about 30mls in 30 seconds with milk - not my normal drink but I liked it.
While it is a bit frustrating I must say I am also enjoying the challenge somewhat.
Oh yeah, and did I tell you this thing is BIG - the Mrs hasn't mentioned a single word about it.... YET.
