After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Happy fathers day. Not.

Fathers day, it's spring, birds singing, almonds in blossom and the weather is great, time to head out on a gentle spring ride on the old Triumph.
What could possibly go wrong, I've spent the past week in preparation, mechanically its about as good as I can get it and she's shining like a new pin.
Well I'll tell ya what can go wrong, ya can break a bloody chain out in the middle of no where, then spend the next hour and a half sitting on the side of the road waiting for a mate to arrive with a trailer while receiving calls from happy people with smiling voices wishing you a happy fathers day and enquiring as to whether or not your having a good day :'(
Guess it could have been a lot worse, could have been alone with no backup support.
Oh well, more work to do on the bike, working with filthy greasy old chains, what a bugger of a job. ::)

Hey there, turn that glass upside down.... there, half full!  Happy smiling voices calling: sounds like you might just be one of the luckiest guys on the planet! Happy Fathers' Day DB!
  • I am going to have a chuckle  ;D  at your expense, sorry mate but its happened to me and some friends where I was the rescuer If anything this story will have traction for a few years to come better than talking about the underpants you get every year. Now does that make you feel better  :o KK
  • It was really no big deal, have been looking at the rear end of the bike for quite a while knowing I had to bite the bullet, tear it down, and recondition the suspension. Guess that time is now. Perhaps she'll be ready for the first spring ride in 2012 ;D
  • I feel your pain, I blew a tire on my bike a few weeks ago and had a long walk home. In your case nice to still be in contact by mobile these days even if it did put a downer on the day.
