Wanted to Buy (POS) Point Of Sale System

Looking to buy a used or near new POS system for my daughter
It would also be nice if it had the standard retail software

Wanted to start work in approx 4 to 6 weeks

Hi KK, do you have anything in particular in mind? ie. Just laptop and POS software or Full PC, cash drawer, barcode scanner, receipt printer etc I have quite a few systems here but would need to sort through and get a working one together. Also, MYOB won't transfer ownership of Retail Manager POS software and they are fairly stringent require you to validate your install every few months so be careful buying 2nd hand software. Marc

Hi Marc Thanks for your reply Its for a beauty salon that is expanding with a few hundred products so we would need Full PC, cash drawer, barcode scanner, receipt printer etc I do have a spare dell lap top as well if that's just for use as a stop gap measure We can rent or buy the software KK

Just thought I would update this listing I have found a system on ebay it was system purchased but not used So its new & its an all in one as in the screen and computer is joined together and a printer is also included The only thing that does not come with my purchase is Cash drawer and a scanner Software Anyone have software favorites?? Yes I got a good deal as the listing was drawing at an end right at the time of the footy finals TV coverage KK

I would have thought the snipers would still be operating regardless of what is on TV... Glad you got a bargain, whatever the reason. Haven't got the retail/POS version, but I am happy with MYOB. Didn't have any major issues with Quickbooks when I used that either. MYOB seems easier, but I had the entry level Quickbooks and got a more advanced version of MYOB supplied when I changed accountants. I went with what my accountant prefers on the basis that, although they are happy to use any software I choose, they are probably going to work faster on what they are most familiar with and I pay them by the hour.

Thanks UNM After a bit of research I have found many programs, most give a 30 day trial Some are purchased some are rent by the month, So it may be best to trial a few and settle for the one that works for the daughter Here is a photo of the unit I purchased KK

Hi KK, glad you bagged a bargain! The best system is the one you can afford and can use easily enough. Trials seem attractive but once your data has been enetered in there over the trial period you may find it too much of a hassle to change to something else. I personally prefer QuickBooks / MYOB for small business and we Use Pronto ERP at my current employ. There are a few freebies but I cannot offer an opinion. What I would suggest is that your data talk with her Bookkeeper and see what they use/recommend as this can often cause hiccups down the track...
