After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Takeaway cups

Can anyone recommend a good takeaway cup that I should be using. I read in the latest bis shrapnel that "consumers value the price of the coffee that I sell as important as the takeaway cup." n=1700. Look forward to some recommendations and why you like the cup you have suggested.

  • I am currently using the detpak ripple cups but the cost per cup including lid is in my opinion too expense, so I am looking for cheaper (but still quality) options at the moment. I have tried to get quotes for custom print cups as well, but the minimum order (normally 25,000 cups) seems high for a single site cafe business!!!
  • i use detpac ripple also. However i buy them from my coffee supplier so the cost is not to bad. Also there printed with the name of the coffee so it helps the customer to remember what brand of coffee they like.  :)
  • Thanks Tamper and sketchy I will check out your recommendation. Anyone else have some feedback, there are some horendous generic prints available?
  • There is a new cup on the mkt which is  attractive and slightly cheaper than the ripple cup.  It is called the "dimple" cup and is made by Solo.  Ask your packaging supplier.   I choose to use a printed styrofoam cup with a lovely coffee bean pattern on it.  To give you an idea of price comparisons (say in the 8oz size), printed foam cups are approx. $50.00/1000, "dimple" cups are $130.00/1000 and ripple cups are $150.00/1000 then include GST.  Together with the price of lids, the foam come in at 0.09 cents, the dimple at 0.17 cents and the ripple at 0.20 cents and then include GST. Quite often, if you purchase your cups from the larger coffee supplier direct, you will get them cheaper (or even close to cost) then if ordering from a packaging supplier, as they get free advertising and they're already making their money on the coffee beans they are selling you. As detpak almost had a monopoly on the ripple cups, they might revise their pricing as I believe the dimple cups are now giving them a run for their money. If you can find an attractive generic design in the styrofoam, why not use them as ultimately the whole idea is to keep the coffee/tea warm and these are far better insulaters than the other two.
  • 8oz cups good quality at the right price call Craig 0299076775
  • Howone can drink coffee from a styrofoam cup is beyond me.  I would rather drink my own vomit ACG
  • When we were searching for a cup supplier we tried the Castaway dimple cups. We had a shocking amount which the lids did not fit, we were finding 1 in 4 cups had badly folded edges and we could not get lids on them. Not good when you only find out after the coffee is served. We landed up going with the Detpack smooth cups. They are a reasonably thick single wall cup and well priced. The ripples are good but pricey (for a reason) and do not print well. Be careful of companies offering small print runs. We came across a few that would do 5000 runs, but the cups were a bit suss, and be very careful of wax coating on the inside!!!!
  • check these guys out: http://www.tpccau.com/bweb/html/cups_overview.html the paper cup company - they are my suppliers.  They supply single or double walled cups, can customise a logo to suit, and are very price competitive they also offer a very good and personalised service cheers, pat
