After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • I can't live without Sygic mobile maps - it downloads all the maps to your phone, so no internet access needed. It uses the GPS effectively and pre-empts a little for lag. Maps are updated regularly and it has text-to-speech voice navigation. eBay mobile, particularly for iPad, is awesome. Evernote - can't live without it. Syncs notes across my computer to the phone and back. Allows my wife to write shopping lists for me while I'm out. Tagging of notes - I keep all my recipes organised in there. AirVideo - for streaming of video content around the home 1Password - all my passwords all the time Tapatalk PayPal AFL, during the season of course TED - love listening to those talks during gym sessions.
  • Sygic for me too. Mobile Rss for iPad is adequate Perfect Downloader is great.
  • AM, which barcode scanner do you use? I have shop savvy and google goggles. For backup, I go  titanium backup. Everyone here should have Coffee Roaster. True a laptop/arduino is better, but if you only have your phone, a pan and a barbecue, it is nice to have ready as a backup. For ebay, pocket auctions is my preferred choice over the ebay app, although I do use that occasionally as not all ebay functions are in pocket auctions, I just like the interface. Opera mobile as it is the only mobile browser I' ve found that displays the crema chat box correctly. Adfree to kill the annoying ads in free apps Wifi analyser to check my wifi connection and whether anyone else is in a nearby channel. Es file explorer so I can wirelessly copy to/from my pc Sipdroid for voip a compass and spirit level of course 3g data monitor Soundhound
  • One app I forgot to list earlier is Melbourne train trapper. Obviously only for those in, or visiting, Melbourne. Good points are that it not only finds stations near you using gps, but can calculate routes to your destination, including multiple trains.
  • Similarly, TripView has been essential for me in Sydney this week. Now all I need is an app to ensure my BH is ready on time so I can actually *make* the public transport options I've selected.
  • I tried sygic and was disappointed with it. It does work, but costs money and is a poor substitute for a dedicated gps. routing is not as good as tomtom around suburban melbourne - probably a different weighting to road junctions. Directions are also not as clear on roundabouts - tomtom would say go right on roundabout, third exit. Sygic just  says take third exit. Mind you some gps units don't know about all the roundabouts. I shall stick with the free navigon that came worth my phone as a hand held backup to the car gps. Also recently started using myibidder sniper software. So far looks promising. Andropaint is a good app for posting.photos to fora. You can set a default save resolution. Import photo, save as jpg and post. Easy. Edit: actually not that easy. this, forum doesn't recognize jpeg as a valid image type,  so you have to rename the file as .jpg

Found this one a few days ago and must say I am impressed and only just starting to touch the sides of what I can do with it. Coffee Roasting use for me will be great. My roaster and roasting computer is downstairs in the Garage and away from the office and lounge where I spend more time. I had been mucking around with emailing myself or dropping stuff on pendrives (was never around when needed) but have now synced Roast PC to Lappie to new Phone so I can update stock on hand or check before ordering or add a note to a roast log file from wherever I want. Apart from that the days of the scrap paper shopping list is over too 8)
