After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Roasted beans Gold Coast

If any one can recommend a good supplier of roasted beans around the Burleigh Heads area it would be well appreciated.

Thanks to derrilex and my collection of grinders I have another EM6910 and EM0480 going off to assist in making every day a tad easer, well for some.  I am taking down another 1kg of home roasted beans.

They have been trying to find a local supplier..

They have public transport only, and being on a pension with accommodation and other costs already removed...  What they have left is often a bit tight. I get the feel that many of the chains are happy to sell roasted beans but it sounds like teh Gold Cost is 10% to 15% higher than what I tend to see around Brisbane..

So if any one knows of a good local roaster...  post away...

Anger.

  • Saw one on EBay a while back also doing greens... I'll have a troll around and see what comes up. Sorry.. I was thinking Mifeia but they are at Ashmore 19kms from Burleigh Heads.  They do free delivery for orders over 1kg depending on the number of drinkers.
  • Google's ya friend  http://questcoffee.com.au/ They look awesome.  $35ish/kg lots of choice... bloody spoiled I tell ya!  I'm jealous!  Why can't we have one like this in the Western Suburbs.  They even boast about their Mazzers.  Our bloody local Gloria Screams has a knackered old Cunhill and a machine so hot that I thought the shot of coffee was the guy purging the steam wand.  No wonder we drink at home!!!
  • Have been in to Quests quite a few times over the years. Really nice folks. The Little One and I holiday up at Gemini Court every year in May, so we stroll down to the main street. When there earlier this year, they were still using the small Solar shop roaster and looking to get something bigger to cope with demand. In May I was detecting something a little phenolic in the cup - it was a Kuda Mas so I know it was'nt the bean as we were using a lot of that same bean at the time. The Guatemalan I had the next day was quite good.

OH how I have forgotten the price of coffee...
Mate, I have a popper or two I could give you.  Get em started on this roasting hobby as diversion therapy.  Greens are easily enough come by from Quest or even Beangreen if they are so inclined.  Dependant on the level of patient care required sure, but if they are up to grinding, dosing, and extracting then popper roasts will be no great hardship.  Just the mess and the area required but surely they have a laundry area that'd suffice.  I'm Frighteningly busy at the moment as are you but you'll never know if you never ask.
  • Beat me to it. Quest was going to be my suggestion, the last couple years when we've headed to Tallebudgera I found 'em to be friendly and roast up a nice bean. There's always a few different SO options on tap.
