One can only suggest that some have a passion that far exceeds what some might say is the norm.


But for those researching the Atomic and it's inception, there is much to read and digest. Some of the info is very interesting and some interesting pics.  The politics is not my interest, but I can see how some, for many reasons, might get involved in an effort to define a specific point.


All that aside, an interesting history and look back in time of the life and development of a stove top process.

This was one of the highlights of the CS forum until the deception and he said/she said personal lines were crossed.  I have never used a stove top, only a moka pot but a young barista I know prefers the taste out of his original un-restored Atomic, as compared to the machines at his very prominent brisbane roastery of employment.  This has naturally peaked my interest!  Of to Ebay... or not...

Personal? Not the least! Ikon Import (La sorrentina) is a business. Like Bon Trading Co. is a business. Maybe you should see if what they say is about the profit they can make by stating it, or a nonpartisan & neutral report of the history of these coffee makers. (For example, the genericity of the term "Atomic", "Atomic shape" and the likes on one side, and "genuine" "Authentic" on the other side... let alone the tale that the family still makes coffee makers as usual - They closed down Father in 1983, Son in 1989). Once you get that (i give you a hint: it is something about a patent and a trademark), you will understand a lot already. Kind regards from Vienna! I personally am really interested in members who have an Atomic and how they're getting on with them.  How do you find your Atomic Mik?  I've never bothered because I've never had a good coffee from one.  :stir I know next time I visit DX he'll convert me!!  :thumb: Off topic: I did admire your work on another forum in detailing/collecting information.  Also, from the little I remember there was some friction in the thread, please don't let that happen here...  :pan

I'm afraid the very first time I saw an Otto, I was smitten... Stupid, I know, but just like a fine wooden boat, or a fine woman... They just draw me in... It's all 'in the lines'...

Very simple answer: I don't use any of the machines i collect... they are just for the looks, the nostalgia and the documentation. I use a Bacchi at home. The friction is very easy to understand: i contradict Businesses that deal with reproductions of Robbiati's coffee machines Model B. I think that is what Bean Flying meant with "the conclusions he tries to stretch". I understand his concerns like this: Why do i come to contradict in such a width those businesses? And that relates to what i meant with "Mr Atomic" and "Gary jenkins". There again simple answer: These frictions over "The Atomic" are business-related - and that is the 99% of what you'll find on the Internet: from Wikipedia to Facebook, to CS, to Amazon and and and. Who cares? Only these businesses who deal with Reproduction. If you interview the family members and see the other machines they all made.... oh whatever. Just visit my website. To come back to making coffee with Mr. Robbiati Model B. Well, i feel sorry for all people trying to make an espresso with it. The legend of making a very good coffee with it when you make everything right (Whatever that might be) is just a matter of definition and taste... something that hasn't quite gone " online " yet. I mean: I can't taste your coffee to judge. If you look at the original leaflets and it joins the conclusions of "Fresh coffee" on another thread: over-extracted burnt coffee. If you like over-extracted coffee: fine. If you don't: add half a liter of frothed milk and 3 spoons of sugar  :D I don't want to reignite a fight. I just don't want to be considered as someone who contradicts businesses for animosity and personal conflict. Ciao! PS: As for Otto. Just to know it has been made in China makes me cringe. That's economic reality but everyone has a responsibility.
