After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

An afternoon with KK

edited January 2012 in Off-topic
Well, it started out well enough with a phone call at about 10an to see if I was awake :coffee2:

1: Already had calls from work and running out of milk, so my shopping order went to KK  ;D

2: Naked made up on the spot but due to lack of coffee, a few minor misshapes.

My triple shot basket fits with a push but had to use a 2kg sledge hammer a block of D's redwood as a punch and a vice to remove said basket from the PF...

3: Lots of chat and discussions as to some handles / steam & H/W levers and the big one  :stir

4: Next came a large antique Samsung LCD TV....  Bugger, that will almost take up the playroom floor  :stir

5: In short all the Elecro caps on the power supply were popped - so off to J-Car  for some low leakage ones...  KK had to stand in line and pay for it all as way to may DIY people on the phone and at the counter that had no ideas and full of assumptions.  I over heard one you was trying to fix his electric push bike and was talking transformers etc but when asked by the guy on the counter if it was 8V DC or AC output, that he was after...  I heard the guy on the phone ask what was AC or DC  ::)

They need to set up a consulting desk and charge a donation.....

6: A short swim later, we made it back and I managed to get the caps all our (tracks intact) and the new ones in ( the right way around) and tested = OK

7: Replace all fixing screws and load his car with modified Coffee stuff a few handles to test and to allow more precise feedback as to the massive order to be filled.  And a working LCD TV...

8: KK even made me a coffee on a non leaver  ;D

So all in all a day of some great outcomes...

KK has left with a smile and things to play with

I have taken two work calls and still sorting them

Missing in action = two screws ?  Held massive LCD above head and shook, but no rattles  :o

In the background, working on getting an old lever .... want don't need  ::)

Now for breakfast, another coffee and a quick test on that wood from D:

WTF, where did the day go....

PS: KK took pictures of some of this... I repeat it was not me

    Much appreciated  :thumb: KK
  • More scotch needed. I will supply you/KK with another ( or a couple) blank of the same timber that you had today and a piece of the forrest red stuff for you to play with on whatever. There, sorted.
  • I dont know what the type B timber is you are referring to. It was all cut out of the one 100 x 100. Unless KK supplied something else in the mix ?
  • AM I have made up my mind I like this style of handle for my PF and steam knobs Its a little fat / chubby one  One of yours - http://www.bestcafes.com.au/forum/accessories/wooden-and-ss-group-handles/100/ index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1388.0;attach=447;image ?action=dlattach;attach=448;image KK
