After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • I'm pretty happy with the stability of my current setup, but I'd like to get a couple of these, a small TV each for my son's room and the master bedroom and set up a disk less shared library system.
  • I have a question for the media gurus If a win 8 tablet is a mini laptop ? Then can it be connected to an 1) external DAC 2) have wireless access to a NAS server storage system I just want it for music at this stage and please note that I use Flac or WMA files Most PC computers work on my external DAC but a atom chip type sometimes don't ? KK
  • #1 How do you normally connect to your external DAC? USB, Firewire or standard audio jack? #2 It depends. If the Win 8 tablet is more like a laptop - i.e. it recognises and mounts harddrives like a normal computer - then it should be fine accessing NAS. The problem with wireless NAS however is unmounting on sleep or other situations where the connection is unexpectedly dropped. It's probably not terrible, but you'll get a warning about it.
  • The connection to the external DAC is USB cable And I don't have issues with cable connection between NAS and Tablet PC as that's what I do now with an external drive A small form tablet with finger gestures is easier to use than a laptop PC + mouse ect KK
  • hard to say for sure. find the best price you can go to officeworks and get it on price match try it out. if it doesnt work take back for refund
