After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
You seem to be the common denominator
In fairness to me and this thread I will put on my serious hat and respond: Was not :P Now, the machines that had issues had big ones that could not have possibly been user error. This first was a beaut in a med-high end HX machine... Leaking pipes and lots of them. No amount of tightening would stop the leaks. The company replaced the machine and said they'd had 'over tightening' issues with the stock but I reckon it was corrosion. Here's the point: These wonderful local businesses listened, inspected the machines and went out of their way to ensure that I was a satisfied customer. It cost them time, money and margins being what they are more than I and my single purchase was worth. Ill be spending my money here but reading with interest the accounts of the brave souls that open their retail borders.
Okay guys, To put this in context..... I have not and probably would not buy a machine from overseas. I bought a cooktop..... a slab...... insurance included. I have previously done same with a grinder. I have toyed with the idea of machine but, travelling solo, unpalletised has always stopped me.
Well the cooktop arrived...... in a custom made particle board box and 4 miles of bubble wrap...... very efficient. No gst - They place value at 988 and made up the remainder in overexaggerated freight..... Cheeky buggers....... What an amazing saving......
Good to hear mate. I think the companies that freight OS all the time and have the experience, do go all out with the protective packaging. The mob that I was talking to said they crate the machines up in a wooden box with foam holding the original box in position. They also make sure there is no markings visible that indicate the valuable contents within. Proof would be in the pudding I guess.
Well done rider... Go you good thing! I often thought of going this route but wasn't as game as you were... Just might have to indulge now.... Caveat emptor an all that.... Tally ho chaps....
