After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Coffee in the bush.

edited January 1970 in Have your say
After all of the hoo ha about how difficult it is to get a decent brew outside of, or, even in the major cities my expectations during our recent trip through outback NSW and QLD were pretty low, how wrong I was.
We experienced espresso ranging from good to excellent in towns like Bourke, Cunnamulla, Charleville, Warwick, Tenterfield, Armidale and Tamworth to name a few, I know the last few are hardly outback but they are rural towns/cities and my expectations were not high.
Sure we were very selective but it's pretty easy to spot a potential good one by the clientele or lack of.
Our worst experience was a couple of nights ago at a pub called the Windsor Castle near Maitland, food was pretty good, coffee was undrinkable, guess I shouldn't have expected anything better from a pub, but at least we tried it, was hoping we might have been surprised, not so.

  • It's great to hear first hand that coffee in Rural parts is evidently improving.  This shouldn't be surprising given the information available easily and cheaply courtesy of sites like this one but it's good to hear nonetheless.
  • I will never forget a road trip to the Whitsundays towing a boat, we pulled in to some place and asked, "do you have real coffee?" the reply was, "real coffee, what's that?" then we asked at the pub if they had any wine, "Wayyyyyyyyyne doesn't live here anymore" he done run auff with his sisser when she got preg-nut"
