After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Aroma Festival!

edited January 1970 in Have your say
Hi guys - we're not attending this year [pretty hard when you're based in SA], but understand the Aroma Festival in Sydney is this weekend...

It's usually a lot of fun, so if you're based in Sydney [or out-of-state] and are attending, please take a digital camera and load up a few of your favourite pics... also you enjoy writing blog-type stuff, this thread is the place to record your thoughts/impressions!

cheers

  • We'll be there showcasing some machines from Lelit and ECM so drop by and say hi  :) charlie
  • Hi Charlie, We will be there as well. This year the sydney harbour authority has brought back the Equipment Expo, but instead of putting it inside an exhibition hall and out of the weather as it used to be, we will be outside in marquees....with equipment.....Will see how that scenario pans out for future reference. In any case if any of you are there do drop by and take a look. There will be various show specials being showcased....honestly the machines on the stand are better left with you than for us to load back into the vehicles to take back home. We will ofcourse have our BFC / Diadema and Unico Splendor machines on show, especially the newly arrived base model Diadema Junior which is a very very well priced entry level HX with great performance. This year I am not going to work the stand full time, but I will be around and about if anyone wants to say hi. See you there, Attilio
  • thanks Charlie and Attilio... and as crema forum sponsors, am sure they'll be happy for members to stop by to discuss the finer points of coffee, espresso machines, or anything else... and remember, if you're able to attend tomorrow, please take a few pics and make a few posts about your general impressions of this year's Aroma on this thread! cheers A
  • ... clearly no uptake on this; have to admit Aroma had turned into pretty much a 'bridge & tunnel' affair even three or four years ago, while we were still in Sydney [albeit a lot of fun].... interesting; expect it's because of the more serious options for real coffee aficionados that are on offer now, such as the regular Cafe Biz'z and the recent Melb trade expo. • PS if anyone is inspired, feel free to start a thread on Industry, comparing different trade fair options for Australian coffee aficionados...
  • Never having been to it before but based on the twitter chatter or the Lack of it this year being even less than last year I suspect there isn't much broad industry support. Going back several years from a fairly high point it may just be my impression that this has been slowly ebbing away? Cafebiz will be in for a tough one next year to try and compete with MICE and the WBC event. If they are going to rotate it to Sydney then it would do better than doing Melbourne so close to MICE.
  • I helped out an exhibitor for some years running until a few years ago when the Authority moved everyone out of the Passenger Terminal. That year the conditions were extremely difficult to work in. In my opinion it went downhill from there. Thought about going as a patron this year, but come Sunday morning the feeling had passed.
  • I might get round to posting a couple of pics later on, probably tonight time permitting.
  • Dont know how this is going to go, but here goes.......
  • Love that last shot! That was exactly the line up on my bench pre-Christmas!  :thumb:  Looks like a great event!  Lucky southerners!!!
  • ba#$@rd [Attilio :pan] - looks exactly like the spot we used to have for the Crema tent!!! must say, looks like it was a good day; love that little squeezy/ press unit that one of your guys is demo-ing... A  ;)
  • Looks like an ideal location  :thumb: I think I visited that area many years ago Great photos of the days events from the Sydney Harbour Bridge backdrop to a weight lifter working the Presso KK
