After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

I haven't tried or used low caffeine However to your question "does it keep better" - I would say no or at the very least equal to the full decaf KK
  • I can't answer your question but it reminded me of an A frame I saw recently "Decaf - its what Italians use to discipline their children" Had to laugh
  • Low caffeine beans behave as normal beans do because that is exactly what they are.

that is what I thought because of the treatment decaf must loose some of the structure thus it has to be drank very fresh and degrades quickly low cafe is like this- Brazil Daterra Estate - Opus 1 Exotic Opus 1 Exotic, the first 100% Arabica coffee grown to be naturally lower in caffeine. With less than 1% caffeine, Opus 1 Exotic is the first naturally grown low-caffeine coffee available to Specialty Coffee roasters. Developed through natural breeding methods, Opus 1 Exotic is not genetically modified; rather it has been meticulously bred from ancient Ethiopian varieties of Caffea Arabica.
  • That's my understand.  decaf (ie processed to take the caffeine out) is a drink quickly thing, roast by colour etc. The low caffeine bean we roasted was a regular looking green bean, so should behave as any other roasted bean.  Try it early, see what you think, but it should last longer than decaf. Decaf still has a caffeine content, not sure how that compares to this Brazil Daterra Estate Opus 1 Exotic bean.  One for the lab geeks I think! :)
  • I love this bean!  It is my staple decaf!
  • I just had a lovely latte with this bean (roasted 600gm and shared with C-Man) and you wouldn't know it was lowcaf.  Full of the usual flavour and nice at 7pm! ;)
  • Michael-  thanks for turning me onto this for the Mrs. yes, I am getting nice thick syrupy pours from it, better as a restretto as the last 10 seconds seem to go a tad biter even without blonding. was even good only 2 days post roast leaves decaf for dead. I will order a few KGs of this and that will cover the postage let me know if you want anything else.
