After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

When one is interrupted by an unavoidable distraction seconds after hitting the brew switch.

It happens to all of us. We're making a coffee when disaster strikes, usually when the elusive godshot is apparently in progress.

This morning, it was my turn.

Seconds after hitting the switch I notice my boy waddling towards me with a suspicious bulge in his undies.

"5-one-thousand, 6-one-thousand, 7-one-thousand..."

Looks like a care package from below has landed... And is about to be distributed liberally around the house.

"9-one-thousand,10-one-thousand, 11-one-thousand..."

Still on the tiles. No spills yet...

"13-one-thousand, 14-one-thousand, 15-one-thousand..."

Oh oh - turning in the direction of his carpeted room with bedding, toys and lots of ground-based, bond-destroying potential.

17-one.... Nope, 'ristretto' time!

My wife wasn't so lucky - no time for milk, she had to wait about 15 minutes before I could start again.

When have you found yourself in brewtus Interruptus?

  • Finally a thread for this!!!! YES! I have a 5yo and 3yo in this house and this is all too common. It's exceptionally regular especially when brewing a pour over. I can handle an interrupted espresso shot but please do not ever interrupt a pour over! In the middle of toilet training my son so there's been loads of ruined coffee and cold cups :)
  • YES!!!  *LIKE* Mine range from kids disasters: thud-scream to KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK...AUSTRALIA POST...KNOCK KNOCK...OH WELL Nooooo doesn't the universe understand that I don't want a volumetric machine!
