A friend told me about these discontinued grinders with a steel conical burr slow speed not much heat.

$119 at Joyce Mayne slashed to $48.00  just 3 left at Maroochydore store

I got one for my daughter

Got to be better than nothing!

Beware of grinders in that end of the market / price bracket. They may or may not be suitable depending on the end use the new owner wants to put them to. If you are talking good espresso, you can in all likelihood forget it. While filter /plunger will be a lot more forgiving of a crap grind (doesnt mean it will be great, just forgiving), a pump driven espresso machine wont be.

In some cases, grinders can be OK for espresso, but not for other brew methods. Depends on how the grinder is designed. My porlex, for example is OK at  grinding for espresso. Siphon though, not  so good. Because of the  way it grinds, coarser grinds are less consistent than finer. Or so it seems to me. Don't know anything about  this grinder, but for  the price, I would be tempted to buy it and, if no  good, sell it on eBay.

That's the same grinder I bought from UNM recently It's on plunger duties primarily and does a good job at that. Exactly what I was looking for. I didnt want it to take up any benchspace and sits it the cupboard For espresso it's not as good (although I did try it out in the beginning ....more out of curiosity and more miss than hit) but then again the mini-e is on ESP duties so I'm cool with it And is a good backup stick blender just in case
