After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Elephant dung coffee - 'Black Ivory'

edited April 2013 in Off-topic
Ok this one's definitely in the 'slightly weird' category. The connection with coffee? Apparently it's made using coffee beans that have passed through an elephant along the lines of the Kopi Luwak thing [but bigger, obviously  :-|]; http://brookstonbeerbulletin.com/beer-brewed-with-elephant-dung

  • I think the difference here is that coffee fruit is not a natural part of the elephants diet and that given a voice they would not voluntarily choose to eat coffee cherries - which is pretty much tantamount to force feeding the animals - which sounds pretty cruel and unnecessary if you ask me .
  • My new product is Kopi Baru, its very exclusive and due to the danger of harvesting, very expensive. Its all the rage with hipsters and other trendsetters, i am selling 100g micro lots for $1000 as a special offer to Crema forum members. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . baru.jpg

  • I guess you use Frenchmen to do the harvesting.... It seems the local snappin handbags don't like the taste of their heads :evil http://www.smh.com.au/national/frenchman-survives-crocodile-attack-20130422-2i9cg.html
  • That story was typical media bullshit, I was at the yacht club on Sunday night talking to Lisa, the owner of the Barra boat the frog was working on. I reckon he bumped into a small croc as he swam out to the dinghy (which was about 10m off the beach). He ended up with 2 stitches so it was hardly a croc 'attack' - he got scratched by it - probably shat itself as he bumped into it! He was pretty drunk at 7pm when i saw him, so he was probably rubbered by the time the rest of the crew talked him into getting the tinny!
