Cleaning my roaster drum

I just read about using ball bearings to clean the inside of my roaster drum.

So, how effective is this? What size is best?

I imagine bearings of roughly similar size to coffee beans, say 5-8mm diameter would be best.


Any better alternatives?

Hi mate, great topic  :thumb: I've had excellent success running Finger Limes in the KKTO to give if a clean.  Sometimes when the tree is just chock-as and you're over putting them in salad... What to do??  So bung em in the roaster, run as per a normal roast remembering to burp the KKTO after perceived first crack, dump on theoretical second crack and you'll find that the roaster is hypothetically clean.  :thumb: I've wanted to try scrub turkeys to clean the Behmor but getting them in the roaster is difficult due to their size and their desire to not be roasted.  Perhaps if I blended them first.... Continue the research.  :rofl:

I heard that wiping it over with a damn cloth might clean it... BUT that might be an urban myth, so don't do it at home kiddies!  ;D Personally I don't clean mine, call me a mink if you want..  The TO gets a wipe so I can see what's going on. When was the last time that you can someone stripping down a commerical roaster to scrub out the inside?
