Very hot food gives me the hick ups so if the chilly coffee does the same ? Then count me out - but it would be a good experiment

I'd wonder about residue in the grinder.  Be interesting for a try but I can't see me going out of my way to try it.  If I'm in the area...  >:D

There is a local mobile Espresso stall that operates at some of the local market days who specialises in "craft" coffees. One of his specials is chilly espresso which he makes by adding fresh ground chilli to the PF..after the grinder....before the brewing. When done well, it adds an extra subtle spice to the taste..not a hot  "bite" , just an extra dimension to the flavour. They do similar things with cinnamon, and other spices...and of course cacao !

I see they offer a 'once per household' free 60g sample... Might be $1.95 postage or some such... (Silly mistake- should be 'free'- Australians hate paying postage- just ask any  e-bay seller, the most successful do 'free postage') So, anyone game? Clearly, they are using this 'Chilli Coffee' as a curiosity-talking point, and clearly, it's working... That's clever Marketing right there! I had a look through their range of other coffee's and whilst I'm no expert, they look pretty good to me. I have only positive experiences from the site sponsors, but I'm curious and so I will get a free sample- but not the 'Chilli'. We'll see, if they engage me and make a follow up offer... I may well take it. I'm passively looking for a supplier who will give me a good offer on an on-going subscription- but I'm not going to chase someone to give them my business. I'm far too lazy to chase someone to give them my money.... Why should I? It's pretty easy really- I just need someone to make me an irresistible offer.... The money is sitting on the table... Just waiting for someone to take it... For the business owners reading this: It's not about 'the coffee' it's all about 'the list'... I'm talking business success... Medals and awards are nice 'ego strokers', but a big fat bank balance is really the most satisfying award.... Your 'customer list' is unquestionably your most valuable asset. Please take this challenge.... Next month- instead of trying to get 10 or a 100 'new' customers.... Make up an 'irresistible offer' and include a 'good value' subscription offer and send that out to your existing customer list... I promise you, you will be pleasantly surprised at the results.... (Make sure you include the option of an ongoing subscription- make sure you include a free sample as a starter and include ongoing 'free gifts' and bonuses for loyalty) I'm an entrepreneur, and I just can't help myself.... It's how my brain is wired. I see far too much opportunity, everywhere, it really is a curse, of sorts. Sorry for the rant- I can see an enormous- no- a Gi-normous gold mine of  opportunity just hanging around as 'low hanging fruit'... just waiting to be picked.... Rant over... I have finally finished dismantling my Franchise organisation and I have just started a new project that will take my focus for the next 3-5 years, but the only thing I hate (grates on me like fingernails on a blackboard) is seeing more than a 'huge opportunity' - that I can't take advantage of... I really hate seeing a HUGE opportunity 'completely wasted'... There is just so much juicy ripe low hanging fruit just hanging around- why, oh why won't someone just pick it??? Oh and by the way- the money is in the Marketing- the money is *not* in the coffee. Roasting good coffee is a technical skill- that you hire a very good technical person to do for you. The money is and always will be.... in the Marketing....

Interesting, I may just try a few things. It might be the only way I would ever try cacao  :D

Are you sure it's a gimmick? Have you tried it? I'm just saying... Flavourings in coffee are nothing new... And judging by the number of half-filled syrup bottles in coffee shops, they enjoy a popular following. Although I'm with you, I enjoy my coffee sans additives... Mind you, I did try some chilli dark chocholate and was very pleasantly surprised at the taste... Jamie Oliver seems to add chilli to everything including breakfast dishes, it just might be a pleasant surprise...
