After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

suddenly... a man of leisure!

edited January 1970 in Have your say
well folks,

after 12 yrs of continually owning my own cafes, Im about to take a well earned rest!

just sold my beloved foxy brown after having been there for almost five years - and last week we went through 50kgs of coffee, which if it aint a record, its definitely up there for the cafe - so I feel like Im leaving it in very good hands and in very good nik!

what to do next?

im not quite sure!

But now that Im practically a man of leisure Im sure that you'll be hearing a bit more from me!

Cheers

Pat

  • Good luck with the next chapter
  • Take the family for a well deserved break And best of luck on the new chapter to open KK
  • thanks ive no set plans for the present other than to help the new owner transition smoothly although i wouldnt mind having a go at roasting - but for now id be happy to apprentice myself to a master as opposed to going it alone in an already saturated marketplace... P
  • Congrats on finalising your sale Pat. There is a couple of assistant roaster type positions on SEEK at the moment. Probably means you get one day off to write a reference then start your new roasting career with dc. That was retirement over with quickly  :coffee2:  maybe I need to move to Melbourne for that job? Good luck with your next choosing. Chester
  • why not do what you do best, and open another one?  with a roaster
  • Congrats Pat! You could always move to Radelaide and try a completely new concept...
  • Congrats Pat - glad it all went through ok in the end. cheers A
  • Great stuff mate.  Congratulations and here's to hearing more from you.
  • Nice one Pat  :thumb: . Now, go buy a Harley, Aston Martin and a jet ski. Buy a new pair of gold budgie smugglers too. Roam the city making a dick of yourself, blow all your money at the casino and then GET BACK TO WORK !
  • Congrats on a well earned rest. It will be difficult somehow to take it easy knowing the pace of a successful cafe, but you,ll get used it, maybe.. Take a campervan and have a drive around the backyard we called Strayaa!:)
  • I see Pat hasn't been on for a day or two. Relaxing  at last perhaps. I work hard enough, still cant understand how anyone manages to run a successful cafe long term. Requires a certain masochistic streak along with heaps of tolerance to adrenaline (and caffeine) I suspect.

at the moment Im managing to get one half day off per week as im still involved with handover and compliance issues associated with the sale of the cafe the new owner is great and I have an excellent working relationship with her she's transitioning well and the cafe's busier than ever = excellent time to sell!

i do all of those things in my imagination all ready - which is where they're going to stay - except for the getting back to work thing - has to be done sooner or later!
