After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

CAFESCENE

This is a request for help...some months ago, we started a sister site to Crema, which we called Cafescene. There were several reasons we started this. Firstly, because we had numerous people calling us and saying, they had had a call to ask where to get a barista (or other cafe staff) and secondly, because we sometimes struggle to pay the quarterly fee to our web host for Crema (ie the consumer site, including this free forum) and thought Cafescene could eventually help subsidise it.

However, while the 'For sale' side of Cafescene is working well, for whatever reason, the 'Situations vacant' part doesn't seem to be getting the results we want for our advertisers. There may be several reasons - firstly because the sort of people employed in the industry often don't have access to, or may not look at websites; secondly, because it's still too small or too new, and thirdly because in such a diversified industry, it's hard to become established as the place to go to look for jobs or post cafe vacancies...

Whatever the reason may be, we'd like your help/advice - firstly, is it a sound concept (feel free to tell us if you don't think so) and if so, can you suggest ways in which we can raise the profile of Cafescene, so that more baristas and cafe staff begin to see it as the first place to go when looking for work?  Any thoughts or feedback would be much appreciated...

Thanks

Admin.
