After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

kmart/bunnings KKTO Roaster

Project started on the weekend:  to build a KKTO Roaster with as much of the gear sourced at kmart & bunnings as possible.

purchases so far:

kmart multi-cooker:  $27
kmart stockpot:  $16
kmart TO :  $39

the TO fits almost perfectly onto the stockpot, which fits the pastapot with handles taken off.  the pasta pot set also includes a steamer tray which is perfect for a bean cooler.

drive shaft part 1 will be an 8mm bolt onto a 13mm socket, holding an agitator made of copper pipe partly crushed to form a triangle.

part 2 will be another 8mm bolt going down and attaching via some skateboard bearings to the outer pot.

the whole thing will sit on a stand made out of makerbeam (15mm aluminium extrusion setup).

  • It is important to observe the roast chamber volume Keep it in the range of 7 to 9 litres for optimum results ( including TO dome ) If that means you place a false bottom or a lining inside to reduce volume then do it Welcome to the KKTO roaster club Hildi KK
  • Volume of the pasta pot is 8.5L.  I'll put a false bottom and insulation using some kaowool I had handy. Why is the volume important?

What diameter are the pots Hildi At 8.5 lt it sounds like 20 cm Or if it's 24 cm you haven't calculated the perforated pot volume that fits from above Don't forget to calculate the whole roast chamber volume ( not just one pot of two ) The volume is important to maximise the heat generated by the TO to roast greater green bean weight And better control KK
