After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Espresso machine and grinders

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
New to this forum and wanted to find out what types of espresso machines and grinders other have and how they like them.

I have been enjoying my Andreja Premium and a Macap M4 grinder for about one month now. I would recommend them to others.

  • Welcome to the Forum Can you give some more details about your Andreja Premium. I currently have a Diadema Junior and a BNZ conical in the kitchen. Both are used every day. JD
  • More Information on the Andreja Premium. Here is a useful web site for more information: http://www.coffeegeek.com/reviews/commercial/quickmillandreja I spent many hours on that site searching information about the Andreja.  The machine is made by Quickmill.  I like the fact that the machine can be used with a digital timer. This is a nice feature because it takes about 30 min to warm up. Sure you can use it after a 10 min warm up but I fine the shots are better when the machine fully warmed up.  There are two gauges, one for the Boiler pressure and the other for the Brew Pressure. The Boiler pressure seems to stay between 1 and 1.5 bars. The Brew Pressure will show the pressure, so the reading will be anything between 0 and 10 (depending on what is going on from flushing the group head to pulling a shot). The nice thing about this gauge is that when pulling a shot, you can see how much pressure is needed. I have found that is the pressure is to low I have either not tamped eounch or the grind is too coarse. If the pressure is to high, the grind is to fine. The machine has a low water alarm that will sound when more water is needed. I have also noticed that it is possible to pull a shot and steam milk at the same time. This has been my first espresso machine and I think it was worth the $1,395.00, Let me know if you have any other question. Thanks, Robert
  • Hi Rellwood, I'm new to the coffee scene for domestic purposes, and have only started out with entry level machines. I have a Sunbeam EM6910 and a Rancilio Rocky grinder. So far so good, and my coffee buds have not become discerning enough to want to upgrade my equipment.  I think my coffee making (and milk frothing) skills are definitely needing the biggest upgrade since the purchase of grinder and machine!   ;D
