After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

WISH LIST - Grean Beans.

edited January 1970 in Green Beans
I would like to start this topic, where we can put our wish list of current or forthcoming green beans. Hopefully, with enough interest, we can persuade a sponsor to purchase the bean. Alternatively we might be able to preorder, or do a group buy. Open to suggestions.

To start of the list:

Yemen Matari - Bani Matar

Currently available from:

Panama SHB - Maunier Estate Boquete Bourbon Natural

If anyone is else is interested, please register your interest or comments (if you have tried these coffees from a previous season).
I am interested in 3-5 kg of the Yemen (no doubt exxy), and the same goes for the Panama.

  • I cupped both 11 days ago. Did not like. Quality is definitely there, just not what I like in a coffee. It's personal. The Berlina Organic outguns the Mauriner IMO. Better save your pennies. They are expensive coffees.
  • Thanks for your feedback Jeff. I have my eye on the Berlina Organic as well. I know taste is very personal, and I do enjoy a good Yemen. The last lot available to home roasters was via CS, and was around $32/kg for green. Yemen has never been a cheap bean. It is also not a bean that everyone likes, though it is a favourite in my household. Roasted Yemen is hard to come by, and very expensive, hence my request for it as a green bean. Home roasting these types of beans (if you like their taste) is one of the reasons I started the hobby.
  • Like the idea, probably need a (bean) sponsor to pipe in to the viability of doing this. I;m sure there are a few questions that would need dealing with. 1. Is said coffee one the sponsor wants to have stock on hand? Most coffee comes in around 69kg sacks, that's quite a few members buying to utilise whole of sack. 2. Is 1 sack the minimum purchase? Not all wholesalers will  do 1 sack and would have to be combined with sponsors normal purchasing. 3. Sponsor would need to charge a premium to cover shipping, handling (repacking etc) postage and time. 4. Would there be a need of a minimum purchase (2kg - 5kg.) ? 5. Pre-paid group purchase? (How would this be facilitated) Can't have a sponsor getting a bean in for us then be left with 10kgs Sure to be other questions from the sponsors side. but with some cool thinking and good management on members parts it's doable. Others thoughts Chester
  • Hi Lwowiak Bean Green does have a Yemen Matari Mocca $28 a kg I know the Yemens can be quite different though.  But a favourite in this house as well. Chester
  • Here,s wishing for Bean Green to stock Indian Elephant Hills AA as well as the Indian Elk robusta for use in blends if possible. So far I have been happy with Brendan,s list. However, I have had great success with the above beans that warrants a request which may be of interest for others.
