Good Morning guys ,

Recently when visiting Noosa , the local coffee shop was selling Vibiemme Domobar machines at around $2400 . It looks similar ( but not quite as good )compared to the Giotto but with 2 gauges

The sales talk tells me it has the original patent E61 head , double boiler and is the best thing since coffee came out of Ethiopia .

Having researched a lot of machines , this one seems new on the radar and I am hoping someone might know about them and whether there is adequate back up etc ?

Any opinions ?

G'day Coffeebean, I don't think that the machine is a double boiler, I'm fairly sure its a HX machine. I believe that Chris (2muchcoffeeman on this site) knows a fair bit about them, you might like to shoot him a PM (an email is probably quicker). All the best.

Coffeebean, where are you located? I suggest to find a reputible dealer as these machines (and a number more) are all very similar, however different. Find out about the warrenty, (can it be fixed at the shop you bought it?, is it parts or parts and labour?) this will ultimately be the deciding factor on your choice.

Hi Coffeebean, The Vibiemme Domobar super is a terrific machine but is not dual boiler. I had the opportunity to use one straight out of the box from the company which has sold them for a while a few weeks ago and I hated it...Noisy, huge cooling flushes and two very large, badly ported holes in the wand...but things have changed for Vibiemme in Australia. I presently have one on the bench (supplied by a new importer). This one has been tweaked by the guys to ensure correct boiler pressure, group temperature and it is a completely different machine and I am blown away by its performance. This is a serious Giotto challenger at a similar price. Pressurestat and opv adjustment are simple and I'm getting fantastic espresso from it. I am still not satisfied with the steam wand porting but this is to be rectified (one hole is blocked for the moment  ). Steam volume and quality is fantastic from the 2.7L boiler and I am yet to see better performance from a prosumer machine. Internally, it's the best build quality I have seen. Most components are commercial. For me, this is very much like an ECM Veneziano, at a much lower price point and with a vibe, rather than rotary pump. If you are shopping for HX, this is a must see IMHO...Just be sure that you purchase one from the right people.....
