After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Coffee World Museum Auction

https://www.berstencollection.com/

Anyone here think they might be cashed up enough to bid?
I haven't seen this museum, but it sure looks like they have a lot of interesting items.

Wondering if any Crema members (Queenslanders!) have been to this museum?
If so, what were your impressions/thoughts?

It's going to be a long auction process and I imagine there would be some stiff reserves in place!
I'm downloading the catalogue forn a browse through. :coffee:

  • I think that's up near Cairns - Mareeba way in North Queensland Kev Thanks for the heads up and the link KK
  • Gawd! Finally got all the way thru the catalogue. What a massive aount of rubbish! Probably a dozen decent items in the thousands listed. Couple of decent looking unrestored early levers, a few Atomics and not a lot else. Will take a long day to auction all of that!
  • The Bersten Antique Coffee & Tea Collection & Museum is to be auctioned as one lot - collection and museum (not including buildings). Auction items include; over 2000 items plus including coffee and tea makers, coffee grinders and coffee roasters, 5 theaterettes, museum information boards, all electrical including lights and CBUS system, audio guide system with 40 handsets, furniture, all display cabinetry and adhesive patent tiles.
  • Not surprised they changed their minds, most of it is a 'steptoe and sons' collection, selling as originally intended, as single lots would have cost more for the auctioneers time than it would have raised! Still cant see the whole kit and caboodle bringing much of a price.
