After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

The piccolo latte: A drink I must admit I have never tried, sounds like a good alternative to a standard cappuccino.
The famous or perhaps infamous "Long Black" depends on who makes it, I've found this to be one of the most poorly made drinks throughout Australia.
Seems most barista's pull the shot/s then top the cup up with boiling water, the result, approx 200ml's of weak, tasteless, searingly hot coffee with no crema.
My long black drink of choice is the Lungo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lungo Wikipedia states
"A normal espresso takes from 18 up to 30 seconds to pull, and fills 25 to 30 millilitres, while a lungo may take up to a minute to pull, and might fill 50 to 60 millilitres." I find water flowing through the puck gives an unpleasant outcome, far too bitter for my sensitive palate, so, my version calls for 18 grams of ground coffee in an 18 gram basket, ground to allow about 80 to 100ml to pass through in 30 seconds, the result is a longer drink with plenty of flavour, lots of crema and none of the bitterness associated with a longer pour, I've been making and drinking this drink for well over 10 years, however don't ask for one in an Aussie cafe, you will be met with a dumb look, followed by a refusal to make this abomination.
The reusable takeaway cup:
Perhaps I don't get around enough, have yet to see one of these offered for sale in an
aussie cafe, It may well be a good idea, regardless, I dislike the taste or mouth feel of coffee out of plastic, a bit like drinking red wine out of a tin cup.
The originators claim it reduces landfill, however last time I checked plastic was made from petrochemical products http://www.ecolife.com/recycling/plastic/what-plastic-made-of.html so not sure of the benefit offered.

Cant comment on this, have never seen one let alone used the device.

Australians do seem to be very prominent in the coffee industry throughout the world, we must be doing something right.
