After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Salvatore Automatic Espresso Machine

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Hi guys, just want to know if anyone has personally used the Salvatore Automatic Espresso Machine?   www.salvatore-espresso.com

It looks impressive but not cheap either and are custom made in the USA.  From what I have briefly seen in the specs it seems to outgun machines like the La Valentina in a lot of technical areas but also seems to be better from a practical viewpoint (Eg) Looks like a hell of a lot easier to clean and far less likely to be scratched in "aesthetic" areas.  The problem is the shipping cost.  (About $460) to Sydney.  The base cost of the machine is $2100.(Some of the customisations add significantly to the base cost)  If something DOES break I don't want to send it back to the USA as the shipping alone would cost a fortune.  I am guessing any competent espresso machine technician here would probably be able to fix it but if not, I am up for a packet. This is my biggest reservation in having a machine shipped over from overseas. In terms of performance though this machine appears to be the Rolls Royce in it's class.  Any contributions to this post would be greatly appreciated.  What am I missing here guys????

  • um what about the difference in voltage? Most US appliances run on 110 volts & australian appliances run on 240 volts. By the time you factor in shipping costs you'd be better off buying local besides the ausie dollar is strong at the moment making imported machines a lot more affordable than they once were. And for that kind of money you could get yourself something pretty decent
  • Thanks for your reply.  I think your're right about getting something local for that kind of money.  I did incidently asked about the voltage issue and I was told that because  they are custom made to order the circuitry is adjusted in accordance with the standards of the country it is going to.
