After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Mazzer Grinder Help

edited January 1970 in Grinders
Does anyone know how you can change the amount off ground coffee that come out on each pull on a Mazzer? Two pull into a double group head currently gives too much ground coffee in the filter basket - normally have to wipe out some - one pull is too little - surely there is a way you can control the amount comming out.

  • Well really you should be grinding on demand (or at the very least only the amount of coffe you will be using in the next 30sec's to one min) but on the odd occasion that you do need a full chamber's coffee to be filled that you WILL ( ;) ) be using in the next min or so you need to remove the chamber lid and turn the big fat screw/dial clockwise (i think, just turn it one way, test and see.  It could be counter clock wise, i haven't done this in quite a while).  It should take around three double clicks to get an accurate 'reading' as to how much coffee it's now dosing (just dump the same coffee back into the chamber while you're testing).  Then just keep adjusting accordingly untill you reach the desired dose. Hope this helps ps/  Grind on demand!!

  • Fair enough, i know what's it's like to work for an owner with such a narrow field of vision.  I truly do empathise with you.  Best of luck!!  Also, just a quick side note, if the chamber is absolutely filthy sometimes adjusting the knob/screw is useless because the rancid coffee/oil build up doesn't allow for the spring to allow the peice of metal that dictates the dose to move up and down (while you are adjusting), and if that is the case you'll need to unscrew as much of the unit as possible and give it a good scrub out and clean. Happy dosing and Merry christmas!!

Sorry, i know this could be worded better but my head's just not with it (just finnished wrapping a bajillion presents for santa!) but i hope you can make sense of it all ;)
  • Cheers, Taking charge of your work space can be difficult when you work for someone else. But I have come up with a solution which is turning the grinder off and only grinding small amounts at a time - if anyone asks, just shrug.
