After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

No sleep

edited January 1970 in Off-topic
Hi all. I've been a bit quiet lately.

My little one has been fitted with an orthosis for a clicky hip. It's not major but our doc doesn't want to risk her development without one for the next 6-12 weeks.

She had a rough time adjusting to it this week (crying non stop and not sleeping unless held constantly) but finally she is comfortable in it and sleeping during the day and night now in her bassinet.

Caffeine has kept me going....

We have another ultrasound on Thursday and then on the Monday following we have an appointment with her doc to see how things have gone over the two weeks and reassess.

She wearing a Denis Browne bar which has two cuffs that go over her thighs and a bar between them to keep her legs abducted at 90deg (like a frog position). This assists in her hip socket development and ligaments within.

She wears it for 23/7 and we look forward to the hour off for bath time [emoji3]

  • Oh mate that's tough!  We're thinking of you!  It always surprises me the way in which our kids find new and interesting ways to cause us concern! Fortunately you've got the rest of your life to enjoy it ;)

thanks mate. It's been a struggle this week. Hopefully she gets back to her self soon and the brace comes off sooner than later.
  • Thinking of you and your little precious cargo. Seems hard right now, but you only have her best interests at heart and she will thank you for it later (much later  ;))

hi Brett. She thriving mate. Happy as anything. Very chatty, demanding (expected). We changed her orthosis to a more comfortable one couple weeks back and she's much better. We've got another scan in a couple weeks to see how she's going and hopefully she won't need it too much longer. She is Sleeping great. Usually from around 10pm to 7am then up for a feed then back down for another couple hours. She has a few naps during the day also. Now the Mrs and I can finally sleep a little more.
  • Wonderful news and pictures!  They have 1000 facial expressions in a minute at that age!  Gorgeous!
