I think the pic above was at iso6400.  It was very dark, certainly much darker than captured. That's great detail in the shadows GK!  I will get a chance to shoot the 135 on the weekend with something other than students and kids.

nice. How was the noise at iso6400 B?

It's there to be seen mate.  Pretty usable pic and the A3 print taken had no noticeable fringing or noise.  Pretty impressive all said.  Not D800 territory but wow close!

That is a superb price!  I have the Nikon equivalent and they are a brilliant focal length with the added bonus of stabilisation and not too much focus breathing for the videographers amongst us.  The picture of the ship above was taken with this lens from a moving ferry in rough weather using the active stabilisation.

Thanks FC Those red pods are from my Pomegranate tree Yellow flower is from a succulent Re lens I used It's an 18-135 mm KK KK

So we had some crazy tornado weather here in Melbourne his arvo but the skies cleared up at around 6pm. So off I went to capture the moments. All are singe exposures at iso100, f11, 11mm and various exposure times.

Also glad to see you're suffering the same dreadful image downsizing issues with fringing and pixilation.  That's why I put my image on Flickr but it still isn't as zoomable and clean as here locally.  Great stuff GK!  How are you uploading??  Your getting better clarity than anyone else and it's not fair!!!!

and my images are taken off Facebook too. So I'm amazed that they are clear on here after 2 conversions.

Resizing is a bit of a dark art.  Need to balance, sharpness, aliasing, moire, ringing, echoes, gamma, colour space...  There is a great survey of techniques and pros and cons of different filters on the imagemagick.org/Usage pages.

Straight off camera... Both Lenses shot at 2.8.  Final Macro shot (not great but boy it's hot outside today) is with the Macro Lens.  Please note that IMHO: "Macro photography (or photomacrography or macrography, and sometimes macrophotography), is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size (though macrophotography technically refers to the art of making very large photographs)."  Mine could be better in all instances using the monopod and having less help from the kids....

No mate, just through the viewfinder but because of the breeze I took a few as it moved in and out of the shallow focal plane.  Okay, here is without NAS re-sampling... 135F2.8 Defocus Off

Okay, now that's better but not yet 100%. Defocus all the way to Rear 5.6, then re-focus subject....

What is interesting is how the focus of the subject changes intrinsically.  Issues with the wind don't help but the pay-off with this is that bokeh and despite subtle, it really presents delicious opportunities.

Just examples shot at lowest resolution to see what changes happen and how.  None of these pics will survive my NAS cull.  TBH the Defocus is something that I'll use infrequently and mostly to the Rear.  Where it will excel is when I'm taking pics of my own kids in groups of other kids.  My kids faces will be sharp and the anonymity of the other kids be preserved.

very cool mate. Comparing the pics it seems to me the bokeh is creamier when defocus is set to the front. Or is it just this forum playing tricks on me?
