Bean Scene's Roasting Directory

Thought it a bit odd seeing Krispy Kreme listed as coffee roasters in Bean Scene magazine's Roasting directory.  ???
Their website doesn't indicate they roast their own.

Yeah I'm not too sure of the value in the "document"... What is the purpose of a roaster directory, if not primarily to pull income to the publisher? I have no idea as to your question, but note there are enough franchise / group owners now buying roasteries/roasting plant to supply themselves. If that makes them a professional roaster with all that that entails then so be it, but for sure dont expect actual pro roasters to agree  There is madness in that there marketplace, and that's about all I have the time or inclination to say at the moment. The other way of looking at this is as follows: On face value, if krispy creme actually roasts the coffee it uses, then it may be a "roaster" in terms of qualifying to be in a "roaster directory". The question to ask however is....is the roaster directory a directory of any tom, dick and harry operating a roasting plant even if only for themselves with no outside sales (ie private roaster operators), or is it a directory of actual professional roasteries that have the full range of products and services to supply a varied client base? ie operating a professional working roasting business, rather than a food or other business that just happens to operate a closed shop roasting plant to supply itself. That my dear watson, is the question

Their website states: "We use the finest beans, sourced from Australia’s leading coffee bean roaster",so why list themselves in a roast directory? Or do they 'roast' those fat/sugar laden donuts?  :rofl: Therein then lies the usefulness (or not) of such a directory.

i don't subscribe any more for reasons I didn't remember until reading this thread.  Shame really and I thoroughly sympathise with the professionals in the room!! Just because an investor owns a Stradivarius doesn't make them a musician!
