After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

What's your favorite kind of coffee?

Hi all,

As someone with high blood pressure, I had to find coffee that fits me. So, I fell in love with decaf, but after finding an article about coffee facts, I'm thinking of changing my habits, as I think it relates to caffeinated coffee. I'll just drink less coffee, but caffeinated…and what's your favorite coffee?  ;)

  • Hi JJ. there are some great decade around but if it's not your cup of coffee you could drink less of high quality coffee. My drinking habits are as follows: Mornings - double ristretto followed by a latte for breakfast. The ristretto is consumed while I'm pulling my shot for the latte. Afternoons it's another latte or if the baby is sleeping, well, I hate to admit it, I make an instant. I gotta do what I gotta do. I don't take sugar with my coffee and for my latte it's with full cream jersey milk. Other than that, if I can be bothered I have a Turkish coffee, and usually with a splash of raki.
  • If I'm being naughty... Double ristretto, shot of cognac, 150ml hot water, top with whipped cream. YUMMY!!!
  • Any type of coffee that is made well and / or cups well...not restricted to any particular method of brewing (ie espresso is not everything)  ;)

Nice .. Brettmate .. only not sure this one ^ qualifies as one of the 3-4 coffees a day that is likely to prolong life and reduce Heart disease .. that appeared in the media recently. Obviously an occasional indulgence .. falling into the category of 'anything in moderation' ... which is all good in Moony's book of Life .. and how to live it. Carry on... and  :coffee2:  :thumb: In other Coffee news. Went on a w/end trip with a mate .. and told him that I was going to be taking my Coffee machine along. He still took a container of Nescafe and sugar to do the Instant coffee/sugar paste thing I used to do back when I didn't know any better. Like the first coffee machine .. thought it was great at the time .. until the coffee education started kicking in several years later. Although giving my coffees that I made him a 10/10 .. he was quite happy to make himself an Instant version and drink it. Footnote A 10/10 doesn't quite deliver the ego boost .. coming from a Nescafe drinker. You wonder about the condition of their taste buds. ??? Besides, Any coffee made from a coffee machine would have to translate into at least a 10/10 .. even a Brettmate's Merlo Forza
  • After drinking nothing but black coffee for years I ended up drinking mostly cappuccinos after moving to a different city and finding the black coffees to be no good. It wasn't a bad thing actually as it was what really got me thinking about coffee and what I liked. I'm now back at the better end of the country and realised after being back here a few months that I should try the odd black coffee again. That's really taken off lately and my favourites are either a double espresso or a very strong Aeropress made with a good SO that has plenty of flavour. Intake is restricted to 2 drinks a day (which according to a recent study is still too high if you don't want it to affect your sleep).

Even... Even... You mean especially!!  I've had Gloria Jeans and Coffee Club coffee that makes instant seem like nectar of the gods.  Money, as punishment for both faux pas I prescribe a Brettmate Liqueur Coffee followed by an FC Baileys indulgence!

I personally like to mix and match especially if the blend and roast is suited to a particular style.  Mix it up and let us know ;)
