After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

30ml for a shot of espresso

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Hi,

can someone tell me is the general understanding of one shot of espresso ie 25-30ml is including the crema or just measuring the black liquid as different beans have different crema capacity. Thanks

  • Yeah, traditionally this includes the crema though more and more specialty coffee nerds are opting aways from the shot glass, and towards the scales as the ammount of crema (and therefor total volume of the shot) changes masively from blend to blend, day to day, and shot to shot.  Throw in a naked portafilter and the whole equation is thrown out of whack.  But for simmplicity, yeah, 30mls includes the crema
