After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • G'day Dell, it would help to know what sort of machine you have. Steve.
  • Hi Steve, Well , think you won't know this brand, its locally assembled , the maker's name is Morgan(pumps from Italy). very simple/basic machine. well anyway i complaint & they are replacing a new unit for me. espresso.th.png other tht, i have a 25 secs flow of rat tail flow and do i
  • The rat tail flow sounds pretty good as for the 60mls that is a standard amount you would expect from a double (approx 18g) basket. What you should be aiming for is what tastes good to you I would recommend you go and do some training so you can see what you should be aiming for and ask lots of questions.

Thanks
  • Hey dell, welcome to the forum what sized baskets (how much coffee does the handle hold) are you using most likely they are seven grams for a single and fourteen for a double on a domestic machine - I would dispense with the single group altogether and only use the double to get the most out of your coffee also what coffee are you using? freshly ground (and by that I mean ground to order) is best - and coffee which is less than three weeks old (since date of roast) is best! where are you located?  If you cant grind to order you can at least purchase fresh beans in small quantities and have them ground for your machine - and I think you will notice a much improved result also given that domestic machines lack the "omph" of bigger, commercial machines, I would recommend cutting your shots shorter - say to 45ml max from a double pour - as any more is likely to only scold the coffee would be keen to see more photos as your coffee journey progresses! Cheers, PAt
